St. Mary’s South Summer Camp Begins with Energy, Excitement, and Faith!

The St Mary’s South Summer Camp is off to a spirited start, blending joy, learning, and faith for the community’s youth.

According to parliamentary representative Dwayne George, the opening day was filled with “joy and laughter” as dozens of children gathered for a programme designed to foster growth through play, creativity, and Christian fellowship.

A notable feature of this year’s camp is the introduction of a “Christian Group” – a daily devotional session where campers engage in praise songs, storytelling, prayer, and reflective discussions. The initiative aims to instil the principle of putting God first, both in personal and communal life.

“From the playground to the classroom and beyond,” George said, “our children are learning the importance of placing God at the centre of their lives.”

Beyond its spiritual elements, the camp includes a diverse range of activities such as sports, arts and crafts, music, team-building exercises, and community engagement projects. Organisers say these are intended to nurture “strong minds, compassionate hearts, and confident leaders.”

George extended gratitude to parents, volunteers, and sponsors, crediting their support for the camp’s early success. He also offered prayers for guidance and protection throughout the summer.

“In St Mary’s South,” he said, “we are not just raising children, we’re building a foundation for a stronger, more faithful generation.”
