Shugy Simon Welcomes Installation of Lights at Bolans Playing Field
St Mary’s South MP Kelvin “Shugy” Simon has welcomed the installation of lighting at the Bolans playing field, describing it as a long-awaited improvement for the community after years of advocacy.
Simon shared the update from the site, where work is currently underway, expressing satisfaction that the project is finally being realised.
“After years of advocacy for our lights to be installed, the guys are here installing them,” he said, adding that residents are already responding positively to the development.
The addition of lighting is expected to allow teams to host matches within the community once again, rather than travelling elsewhere to play home games.
“This is all we needed to be able to come and watch the guys play… in our community,” Simon said.
He said the improvement would help rebuild local support for teams, with supporters now able to attend games more easily and consistently.
Simon also pointed to what he described as “relentless advocacy” on behalf of residents as a key factor behind the progress, noting that the development reflects ongoing efforts to improve community infrastructure.
Installation work is ongoing, with residents looking forward to the full completion of the project and the return of football activity at the Bolans facility.

Longtime overdue and you didn’t do it? What is the opposition really doing to impact the people in a direct way. Voycotting and protesting will not win election. I’m still deciding where to cast my vote. Too me, I see both sides of the coin. Six in one, half a dozen in the other. No faith in politicians
