St Lucia Deputy Commissioner fires back at Gaston Browne

The hierarchy of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has not taken kindly to statements made by the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne, who claimed that police officers in Grenada dropped the ball in dealing with the COVID-19 situation.

Browne made the comments during Parliament while noting the COVID-19 crisis is overwhelming islands of the Eastern Caribbean.

Browne said, “There is a growing crisis with the OECS, let us look at Saint Lucia. Saint Lucia has about 180 deaths so far, thousands of active cases.”

“The police never dropped the ball, the police have always been doing what is within their powers and I’m pretty sure that the Prime Minister of Antigua did not have 150 officers being infected within his Force,” Dorian O’Brian, Deputy Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Corporate Affairs and Professional Standards said Wednesday.

“Sometimes when people say the police dropped the ball they must understand the situation that they’re in,” Obrian continued.

“We all know what caused the rise,” Obrian declared.

“I don’t think it was the police that was in politics running for government, so I want to be very clear on that, the police did not drop the ball, we have always been out there and we are working as hard as possible,” the top cop declared.

Saint Lucia has been combating the fourth wave of COVID-19 since July 25, 2021.

According to health officials, the surge in cases has been linked to mass crowd gatherings, social activities and the election campaign.

  1. Gaston never learns, he keeps uttering BS from his mouth, speaking lies without even thinking. and its amazing the ppl keep listening to and believing in the crap that this clown minister speaks.
More and more it will be backfire on you Gaston Clown

  2. How dare this man answer back the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda. These police have to learn some respect. Hon. Browne can say anything he wants in parliament. Who is someone in St. Lucia to have an opinion. Doesn’t he know Hon. Browne can have him disciplined for insubordination?

Right now I’m so upset I don’t want to see any Lucian anywhere. They need to learn some manners!

    • Move your rass… Who do fuck you and Gaston feel you two are! Gaston are run tlk how he wants and DEFINITELY NOT TO LICIANS!
We do play dat submit to whip and chain…
So you sit your rass down at the end of Gaston foot stool and kiss his feet! Lucians mean what we say and say what we mean! And Gaston not gon lie and SAY WHAT HE WANTS, to feed his sheep! Move yourself!

    • Bilbo… keep your eyes open my dear…cuz lucians are everywhere. Not you, not Gaston can prevent them from roaming or SPEAKING up against nonsense and lies!
Gaston need to know his place and give respect to get!
And he sure won’t sit on his high horse and say anything bout anyone and not be pulled up or held responsible!
He will discipline his children when they tlk back to him… definitely not anyone round these ends here!

  3. There is a saying “you mout ah go get you inna trouble” words to think about. Hopefully the entire country doesn’t suffer for one’s arrogance. Stick to policies and stop and stop the fool foulness.

  4. Don’t we have enough problems right here in Dadli? Mr PM, the deflection will not work. That is an elementary tactic that you learned from Trump. Ball out “fire” to distract the crowd. Stay out of our neighbour’s yard and focus on our problems at home. We know it’s hard, but try NOT to be the World Rarse for now. Let’s focus on our own challenges here in Dadli for a change.

  5. Wasn’t the example of dropping the ball regarding Grenada? The police there did not allow an illegal event which resulted in widescale covid spread? Why is this Lucian responding? Is he one of those attention seekers who use covid as a way to grandstand? One area where SLU is lax has to do with their current government decision to give persons a reprieve for breeching their laws regarding covid. How then can persons take these laws seriously?

    • No tenman, Gaston did say… look at Grenada & St Lucia, hence his response!
Don’t think anyone right now in St Lucia is seeking attention from Gaston right now.

My humble opinion… As much as all heads are trying what they believe is right for their land and ppl… Gaston has a dictatorship way about him and tend to be very disrespectful not only to his ppl but by extension neighboring islands.

This is by no means stating that he can’t point out something in his belief is wrong happening around him (other islands)

He needs to be more of a leader and less of a dictator.
Ppl follow leaders by what appears to be righteous beliefs and PRACTICES…
And certainly rebel when Commanded to live a certain way and follow certain practices…
I hope Gaston is able to read this… I’m praying for him, his ppl and his land!

We all need to work together!

    • @Tenman: What are the reasons for the spread of Covid-19 in Antigua? Where by the death toll is about 75 so far,and counting. Gaston Browne knows everything about all things large and small. I wondered when is he going to take responsibility for the grave uptick in Covid-19 cases in Antigua. He seems to have a short time memory. When he accused one Lionel Michael for the spread of Covid-19 in the British Virgin Islands. Who is he blaming now for Antigua’s demise.

  6. The PM is becoming unhinged in his approach to things. We have entered into unchartered waters here. It doesnt matter what the dashboard says. The entire approach is wrong. The missing element is the ability of a leader to persuade his countrymen, to lead his contrymen, to inspire his countrymen, to erode the political boundaries and captivate even his opponents to take the right action. V.C Bird had this skill and Ive yet to see it employed by Gaston.
