The preparations for the International and Caribbean Food Fair, which will be hosted by St. John’s Anglican Cathedral in about two weeks, are progressing smoothly.
Valarie Gonsalves-Barriero, the Public Relations Officer for the Food Fair Management Committee, reports that tickets for the highly anticipated event are already on sale and have remained at $20 for many years.
Several countries will participate in the fair, with many of them having done so since its inception.
Negotiations are underway with others to join, according to the PRO. Gonsalves-Barriero notes that the stalls will be easily identifiable as they will be adorned with their respective country’s flags.
Funds generated from the fair will be used to support projects undertaken by the church, including the restoration of the cathedral.
Gonsalves-Barriero invites everyone to support the event, which she describes as a family-friendly activity with entertainment and activities for young people.
She advises patrons to arrive early to avoid missing out on popular stalls.
Those without tickets can pay an entrance fee of $2 at the gate and purchase tokens to make their purchases.
The annual event will start at 2 p.m. and end promptly at 7 p.m. at the Deanery Grounds. Although the pandemic has subsided, hand-washing stations will be available, according to Gonsalves-Barriero.
