Pringle reading his speech

House Speaker Osbert Frederick stated that he granted Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle permission to read his response to the 2025 budget estimates.

The Lower House began debating the 2025 Budget on Tuesday.

Pringle was observed reading from an electronic device, after which the Attorney General pointed out that this was a breach of the rules.

The Speaker confirmed that earlier in the day, the Leader of the Opposition had visited him in Chambers to request permission to read, which was granted.

Pringle later commented that it was unreasonable to expect the Opposition Leader to memorize his entire presentation.

  1. Pringle is such a dunce.

You literally cant make this stuff up. Unbelievable!

No one is expected to memorize anything, but to speak from notes or bullets without reading every word. So there are notes, to help memory. What a whining loser.

How is it that everyone else can meet this standard but Jamale Pringle? Now even the Standing Orders must be dumbed down just for him, as the UPP expects for educational advancement and other global norms?

And what does Pringle do after this special leave is granted to him out of pity? He accuses the speaker of unfairness for entertaining a point of order from another member, as allowed by the Standing Orders.

    Pure waste man, Jamale Pringle!

  2. “Pringle was observed reading from an electronic device, after which the Attorney General pointed out that this was a breach of the rules.” “Pringle later commented that it was unreasonable to expect the Opposition Leader to memorize his entire presentation.”

Can some wizard make sense of these two sentences. If something is a breach how then can Pringle say there can’t be an expectation of him memorising the speech. Help me here people.

  3. He obtained leave.. the rules say the breach is cured if he obtains leave. but he just had to remain quite after the Speaker said he had given leave. But no he then went on this give a whole unnecessary speech.

  4. He is reading from SCRIPT PREPARED BY THE MAN COW/ LIPSTICK HAG/ CHAOS DEMON!!!

  5. Myself and others are sorely disappointed with the state of UPP today. George Walter must be roling over in his grave under that steel frame. Now the party has an intellectually WEAK immature boy as its “leader” so one must ask what will become of the UPP?

Mr. Pringle is just NOT READY!!!

  6. Irresponsible Behavior by the Opposition UPP in Antigua

The United Progressive Party (UPP) in Antigua and Barbuda has recently displayed a concerning pattern of behavior that raises serious questions about their commitment to the democratic process and their responsibilities as elected representatives. Their decision to boycott significant national events—Independence Day, Remembrance Day, Heroes Day, and most recently, the V.C. Bird Day parade—coupled with their consistent absence from parliamentary sessions, sends a troubling message about their priorities and dedication to the people they were elected to serve.

    Undermining National Pride and Unity

By boycotting these important events, the UPP demonstrates a blatant disregard for the values that these occasions symbolize. Independence Day celebrates the sovereignty and resilience of the Antiguan and Barbudan people, while Remembrance Day honors those who fought for our freedoms. Heroes Day acknowledges the contributions of our national icons, and V.C. Bird Day recognizes the legacy of a founding father. Each of these events fosters national unity and pride, bringing together citizens from all walks of life.

Instead of enhancing civic engagement, the UPP’s actions create division. They undermine the very fabric of our society by suggesting that political disagreements justify the alienation of citizens from these shared experiences. Such behavior is not only irresponsible but also detrimental to the social cohesion so vital for our nation’s development.

    Erosion of Democratic Responsibilities

As elected officials, members of the UPP have a duty to represent their constituents actively in parliament. Boycotting parliamentary sessions is a dereliction of that responsibility. It deprives their voters of representation and crucial debates on policies that affect their daily lives. This behavior raises critical questions about their commitment to democracy and governance. How can a party that refuses to participate in the legislative process expect to advocate effectively for the interests of the people?

Indeed, their absences signal to the electorate that they are more interested in political theater than in governance, which can have far-reaching consequences for the nation’s wellbeing. It exposes a lack of accountability and respect for the democratic process that should be at the core of any political party’s ethos.

Call to Action for Progressive Antiguans and Barbudans

As progressive citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, it is essential to recognize the implications of supporting a party that exhibits such a dismissive attitude towards national events and legislative duties. Voting for the UPP in the upcoming elections would not only endorse their pattern of irresponsible behavior but also risk setting a precedent that undermines our democratic values and national unity.

Instead of supporting a party that boycotts and divides, progressives are encouraged to embrace candidates and parties that value participation, dialogue, and national cohesion. Consider those who honor their civic duties, attend to the needs of their constituents, and engage wholeheartedly in the democratic process.

The recent actions of the UPP are a clarion call for responsible citizenship. As Antigua and Barbuda approaches the next elections, it’s vital for voters to reflect on the implications of their choices. Reject political irresponsibility in favor of principled leadership that genuinely represents the interests and values of all Antiguans and Barbudans. Let us stand together to build a future where unity, progress, and civic engagement flourish.

  7. Lamin let’s go get this asshole out of our parliament, the people that voted for him you should see the roads infront of their homes.. he eats at a little restaurant in Swetes occasionally and the road leading to it has more craters than the moon..there are lots of overgorwn bushes and bad bad roads in his consistency boss just in it for the money💰 he cares zero

  8. In my humble opinion a person usually has to read what he/she didn’t write. Knight is going to have a field day with this tonight.

  9. It’s like taking an exam with an open book, so you can read the answers. And if then you don’t succeed, than you are a real dunce.
And the stupidity goes even further when Pringle compared the Prime Minister delivery of the Budget Speech reading from a teleprompter with his debate of the budget. What an idiot. A speech is a totally different exercise. A debate you have to make little notes but you speak from your knowledge. Pringle cannot do that so he got permission from the speaker to read whar whomever wrote for him. He is just not ready yet.

  10. All the Gatson Browne lovers should have saved their long winded response to this click bait article for the actual budget itself, and for the end of next year when almost none of the things on this budget has been fulfilled.

This ABLP government has been a total failure in the past ten years, pure failure. They came into office when the great America was recovering from the greatest economic collapse in its history, and at the time when millions were flocking to these tourist destination to repreave themselves from the 6 long years during that crisis. So Gatson Browne came into office and continued to be in office in the most lucrative years for tourism in Antigua’s history, and what has he accomplished, almost absolutely nothing, other than for him and his Son to get rich rich rich.

So keep talking you fools, because how do I know that this Government is a total failure, is that the people havr spoken, and if it wasn’t for the illegal transfer of 6 votes(6) their arses would have been ousted from running the country.

If this government were as popular as they think, they wouldn’t have had to literally scrape up 6 votes to win the last election, now would they?

So keep talking, because at the end of the day, voters are still taking notes.

    (1) St Johns is still stink to high heavens.
(2)Crimes and Drugs are still crippling our tiny nation.
    (3) Pensioners still can’t get their money.
    (4) The roads are still terrible.
    (5) Proper drinking water is still a pipe dream in this so-called prosperous island.
    (6) Cost of living is still one of the highest in all of the Caribbean.

So keep talking, because the voters will certainly have a say about all this economic bragging, with absolutely nothing to show for it.

    • (3) Tap tell lie pan pensioners!!! They have gotten their monies on time for months now!!!
      (1) Laws need to be passed for property owners to be responsible for the UPKEEP of their properties in St. John’s
      (4) There has been some IMPROVEMENT in some of our roads. PROCESS IS ONGOING!
      (2) Antigua still has arguably the LOWEST CRIME RATE IN THE REGION. IF you want, move to Trinidad, Jamaica, St. Kitts, SVG and Grenada
      (5) You can purchase drinking water at the supermarket or other suppliers like Premier Beverage
      (6) Cost of living affected by inflation worldwide

  11. You know we need to have some requirements for persons that want to sit in our Parliament. One such a requirement should be that you hold a certificate of public speaking and have learned the art of debating. I mean when I look at the debate performance of our secondary schools, I feel proud with the level of debating that they display. When I look at Youth Parliament and see the level of debating that is displayed I again am proud of the standard that is displayed. But somehow these are not the persons that present themselves later in life for public office to sit in our parliament. All we get from the UPP side are laggard Losers and Conmen. I mean how many is Pringle not in parliament. And to todate he cannot give a good presentation. I mean you learn when debating not to give your opponents amunition for rebuttle. Well MP Maria has already starting to tear down his many lies and misinmformation. When the rest of the ABLP MP’s take their place not will be left for the PM to do. He was all over the place that I wonder what will his colleagues present. They will just repeat what he has said. I mean any serious debator would not go and ask the speaker if he can read his presentation. What happens to making bullet points. And speak on every bullet point as you have study it. I don’t think Sir Gerald would have allowed him to read his presentation. Because last years’ budget MP Asot was stopped from reading his. Perhaps this new speaker felt that he should not start out being firm towards the opposition leader. The ABLP MP’s luckily do not measure themsleves at the UPP MP’s standard. If that were the case the standard would be very low.
