Soldiers and Police Receive Drone Pilot Training

ABDF- This week marks a significant milestone for the Antigua & Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF),the Royal Police Force of Antigua & Barbuda (RPFAB) and the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP) as they embark on a new partnership with Aerodrome UAS Solutions.

A week-long Drone Pilot and Operations Training program has begun, aimed at equipping our participants with essential skills for integrating drones into military and peacekeeping operations across Antigua & Barbuda.

The training, led by Mr. Giovanni Ruiz and Mr. Stuart De La Rosa, combines theoretical knowledge with practical field sessions. The training commenced with an opening ceremony at the Police Training School on September 22, 2024. Notable attendees included Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier General Telbert Benjamin, Force Sergeant Major Warrant Officer Class 1 Jeff Lawrence, Commissioner of Police Mr. Atlee Rodney alongside Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Everton Jeffers and Mr. Calvin Browne from the ONDCP.

Both Brigadier General Telbert Benjamin and Commissioner of Police, Mr. Atlee Rodney expressed their gratitude for the training and the promising partnership with Aerodrome UAS Solutions, which enhances the capabilities of ABDF and RPFAB in safeguarding our nation. Special thanks were also extended to the Government of Antigua & Barbuda for their ongoing support to the development of both organizations.

  1. How will privacy, noise-pollution & trespass in air over individuals homes be regulated to maintain personal privacy and peaceful environments?
    Legalized random drone use by ‘authorities’ could be a slippery step towards infringement of individuals human rights.
