“This Is What Innovation and Food Security Look Like” – Minister Smith on PiAngo Fest 2025
PiAngo Fest 2025 drew a large and enthusiastic crowd to the Cades Bay Agricultural Station on Sunday, in what Agriculture Minister Anthony Smith Jr. described as a clear example of agriculture, culture, and community coming together.
Smith praised the creativity of local agro-processors, highlighting the fierce competition that featured pineapple-and-mango creations and pepper-infused hot wings. He said the festival demonstrated the potential of local talent to drive both innovation and food security.
“This is what innovation and food security look like when island and creativity meet,” Smith said, reflecting on the success of the event.

The festival offered more than food. Music, performances, and community competitions kept the crowd engaged throughout the day, with thousands turning out to enjoy the island’s harvest in new and inventive forms.
Looking ahead, Smith revealed plans to expand the event even further, with the aim of transforming PiAngo Fest into a full agricultural festival by next year.
He thanked vendors, performers, and the public for their support, calling them the “real MVPs” behind the event’s success.
