NEWS SOURCE ABS: The SJDC has commenced its phased revamp of vending in the capital.
There was an unimpeded flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the area near the VC Bird Bust Tuesday morning, as vendors who previously sold their wares from the streets were moved inside the Market Complex.

Thank God
Finally someone got the balls to do something about it.
This is what is called, “Promise Made, Promise Kept.” No fussing and fighting over a space that is owned by the government. The public roads should always be free of obstruction and obstacles that can impede traffic and be the unnecessary cause of accidents and unpleasant incidents.
I am proud of St. John’s Development Corporation with the support of the cabinet. Carolyn Thomas-Parker and Eli James, your management is commendable.
The streets can breed again. Well done to SJDC….
NICE. SPACE FOR THE TRAFFIC TO FLOW FREELY. PLACE LOOKING LIGHTER ALREADY!
@ Dave Ray, not everything has to be political…! this should’ve been done years ago! Now u have finally got around to do it u want to take a victory lap? Let’s see if u guys can address the broken pipes that has been preventing residents from sufficient water.
Poor Antigua nothing but shame. The people there are poor enough and can barely live and now the broke government is killing the poor people for their failire. Get rid of your PM he only thinks of himself. No passion for poor people support. I’ll never return to this filthy country. Corruption at its greatest.
Smh @Dave Ray
Do you remember the Perry Bay issue under the last administration? Have you been following the conversation on Facebook regarding the cabinet’s allowing the vendors to remain until after the Easter Weekend? Did you see how they referred to the Hon. Steadily “Cutie” Benjamin because it’s in his constituency saying that the vendors will not be moved because he wants the votes? How silly? They’re not even from his constituency. So, don’t tell me that he comments about politics. I’ve come to realize that EVERYTHING in Antigua is made into a political issue. You’re one of the culprits. The government has been feverishly working on the pipelines while installing millions of dollars in RO plants across the island. You’re playing politics with the water issue. Even Mr. Lovell said that it would take 20 years to fix the water regularity.
I’m free to say I want I chose, just as you are.
@Visting, never again: If you are trying to sound like a tourist, shut up and stop lying. You either live here or are a disgruntled UPP supporter living overseas but the bottom line is, great, don’t come back! Shed your crocodile tears somewhere else. Who in their right mind doesn’t want the mess that has plagued parts of the city cleaned up? Only someone who really hates Antigua, someone like you. Stay away, chump.
Good job! Our vendors are not infants wgo have to have their thinking done for them and their hands held as they are led around! Why can’t vendors FOR EXAMPLE, pool their resources and rent space where it can be found in order to carry on with their business? Do these vendors even pay a licence to vend? Do they pay SS, Medical Benefits or Education Levy? Time to end this yesteryear policy and bring them in line with current economic trends. How the trend continues.
@ Visiting, never again
Great! Good decision@ Your kind would only pollute our clean, healthy airspace. Got along without you before I met you, gonna get along without you now
Now stay the hell away!
Thanks you st. John’s development. What a difference removing the unsightly shacks make to the esthetic of the area.
Sied Green promise this over a year ago, but I guess better late than never.

@Visiting, never again
Thanks, you’ve been granted persona non grata. You’re the type of stupidity that we don’t need in our country. Make room for the positive energies to keep on returning. The most beautiful Caribbean island where people from across the region are seeking domicile for a better life. Gooh lang. Hope you tump yuh toe.
What is xour contribution . You’re not missed in any way or form . Stay put where you are .
There’s Faithful National #1 DOOFUS BUTT LICK talking stupid again as the individual is such an amazingly stupid person.
BOUT DAMN TIME
I hate driving on lower Market Street and try to avoid it at all costs. Now I can freely drive again without worrying that somebody might be too far out in the road and get hit. For once common sense has won.
MAGA (make Antigua great again)
Next up, the foreigner’s who doesn’t contribute anything worthy to the country. I know this may offend some people but the truth normally offends.
I could never understand you come to a country for a better life that your birthplace isn’t offering and you start turning the country into what you ran from. Wicked, ungrateful and foolish is description for most of Antigua and Barbuda foreigners and some natives.
