Six Roads Paved in Mount Pleasant as Public Works Intensifies Community Upgrades
The Ministry of Works has completed the paving of six roads in Mount Pleasant, following the pouring of 500 yards of concrete on Thursday. The project forms part of an ongoing nationwide infrastructure push led by the government.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne praised the achievement in a post on social media, congratulating Minister of Works Maria Browne, her staff, and private contractor Patrice “Baba” Luke and his team for their efforts.
“Congratulations to the Minister and staff at the Ministry of Works, Hon. Maria Browne, as well as the private contractor Patrice (Baba) Luke and his staff,” the Prime Minister wrote.
Minister Browne also shared the update on social media, noting that the Ministry is actively working in communities across Antigua and Barbuda both day and night.
“As promised, the Ministry of Works is on the go… featuring new equipment and dedicated staff members,” she stated.
The Ministry’s road rehabilitation drive is being supported by a fleet of recently acquired equipment and forms part of a broader infrastructure programme, which includes road resurfacing, drainage improvements, and utility upgrades. (Written with input from AI)

Dam nonsense! Focus on the roads in communities that really need it. Pretty soon the $100 million will be all used up and lower income communities will still look like ish.
Is that an attempt to continue inflating invoices so that a minister collects his/her share?
I do not believe any engineer worth his/her salt would give a seal of approval to this work.
There is absolutely nothing a single piece of steel nor BRC wire to keep the concrete.
Tomorrow it will all fall apart and need to be redone.
That’s how our ECC$100milliin will go in the twinkle of an eye.
Now is the road condition in that area worse than what obtains in St Johns Rural West?
I don’t think so.
Richard Lewis has been crying out for some attention to be given to roads in his constituency.
Not a muscle has been moved.
Michael Joseph cannot speak.
He is behind and curtain hiding and peeping out to see if Richard Lewis’ cries reaches the ears of anyone so he can take the glory.
Minister Maria Browne is fulfilling her husband’s pledge in ensuring that constituencies which didn’t vote labour suffer.
Labour is holding on to constituencies thay have.
That’s where they are spending tax dollars.
Yet they want to get the votes of the very people that they made suffer.
Sorry for them.
They will not get the one held by HONORABLE RICHARD LEWIS.
Mi glad fi see progress finally reach up dey!
Big up to the workers — them roads did rough like old iron
Now we can drive without dodging potholes every 10 feet.
SMH clutching on concrete because they can’t build proper runoff and drainage systems nor maintain their roads until. They don’t even clean their existing gutters much less make new ones. Just because they are slower to degrade doesnt mean it’s immune to poor contruction and maintenance i.e Benjamin drive. Is this the solution to
All saints road, will you cast all of it? What about other lengthily stretch? How much roads will you pave with with 100mil, how many km/miles will it cover?
