Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of the Environment Hon Sir Molwyn Joseph was today in attendance at the 2nd Climate and Development Ministerial (CDM) meeting on the margins of the 77th United Nations General Assembly.

Co-hosts of the meeting are the United Kingdom and Rwanda.

The main priorities of the CDM has been Responding to Climate Impacts, Climate Finance, Access to Finance, Fiscal Space and Debt Sustainability.

Sir Molwyn, addressing the meeting, stressed the importance of Loss and Damage Financing as a priority goal for the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), which Antigua and Barbuda currently chairs, ahead of COP27 taking place in Egypt from November 7th – 18th.

A portion of Sir Molwyn’s address to the meeting this morning is reproduced below.

“It’s very important for small island states that there be a commitment and an understanding of the peculiarities of our islands. The fact of the matter is, it has been over 30 years that we have been waiting to see some tangible evidence that our vulnerabilities are taken seriously.”

“Loss and Damage is already on the provisional agenda but it must be on the agenda for COP. It’s important to establish trust in this process and it is also important to establish solidarity and I believe the action of getting Loss and Damage on the agenda of COP goes a long way in establishing that.”

  1. “Condolences and Congratulations on your ascension to the throne” is what comes to mind seeing this picture
When there is no genuine humanity within, the inhumane comes leaping out at the worst moment
Did the minister remember to take his namenda

  2. Awesome, talks about “climate impacts” and “sustainability”. Ask the people in Holland how that fu—ery is working out for them.

It almost seems like A&B are suicidal.

  3. Another great leader from the team ABLP. Who would replace him should the UPP for some strange reason get in office? God forbid.

  4. He’ll come away with absolute ZILCH, but return to Antigua with a barrel load of the AstraZeneca “clot-shot” vaccines … 💉💉💉💉💉

  5. Yet another one of our ABLP ministers representing our country well at international forums. Who from the UPP would be Minister of Health and the Environment? God forbid.

    • Are you telling everyone that you would happily take the AstraZeneca vaccine because Molwyn says so without doing due diligence @ FromTheSideline?

You really would follow ABLP to end times. Wow!

      NOW THAT’S BLIND LOYALTY!

  6. @ From The Sideline
    You are right.

ONLY ABLP CAN RUN THIS COUNTRY INTO THE GROUND WITH ALL THE DEBT AROUND THE NECKS OF THE PEOPLE STRANGLING FUTURE GENERATIONS.
THEY ARE INDISPENSABLE. WE CANNOT DO WITHOUT THEM.
PERHAPS LAMMING, DONNA AND COLIN ONEAL COULD ALWAYS STEP IN IF ALL THE MINISTERS DIE, BECAUSE ONCE YOU BECOME ABLP YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY TRANSFORMED WITH THE SKILLS TO BECOME A MINISTER……ONLY SUPPORTERS HAVE THAT TRANSFORMATIVE POWERS!

    USEFUL IDIOTS, LOL
