His Excellency Sir Clare Roberts, KCN, KC, Governor General’s Deputy of Antigua and Barbuda, presided over the official Swearing-In Ceremony of two distinguished public servants on Monday June 2 at Government House.
In his opening remarks, His Excellency expressed his privilege and honour in administering the oath to Sir McLean Emmanuel, who was re-appointed as a Commissioner of the Antigua and Barbuda Public Utilities Authority (APUA), and to Mr. Peter Abraham, who was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Social Security Board.
Sir Clare noted that Sir McLean’s ability to represent the voices of the many citizens and residents who admire and look up to him would strengthen the strategic direction of APUA and reinforce its mandate to deliver essential services efficiently and reliably.
Turning to Mr. Abraham, His Excellency commended his steadfast service as a board member and acknowledged the Cabinet’s confidence in elevating him to the position of Deputy Chairman. He noted Mr. Abraham’s commitment to the welfare and security of the nation’s citizens.
“On reflection,” Sir Clare noted, “you are both part of the management of a monopoly. In the case of APUA, the Authority has the monopoly in the distribution of electricity, water, and telephone land lines.
In the case of Social Security, it enjoys legislative protection against competition. I ask you to bear that in mind as you strive to provide the best utilities and the best social security possible.”
In conclusion, His Excellency, on behalf of the Governor General, His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, and the people of Antigua and Barbuda, congratulated both appointees. He wished them a productive and impactful tenure, marked by diligence, integrity, and national pride.
The ceremony was witnessed by officials and family members and was followed by brief interactions with His Excellency.

The Come Raids are cleaning up BIG TIME just wondering when will it be my time. All these years I’ve been coming to meetings, to Fort James on Labour day and still can’t get in on the RAID
And we expect the best out of government agencies? Laughable.
Guess Lucinda will remain tight tight as there is no way he can solve the water problem.
King Short Shirt pon de APUA board again? Well das culture and governance in one!
So long me a wait pan me Social Security cheque, me hope Peter Abraham can speed up tings now.
Is art and activism meeting administration—Short Shirt still got influence, ehn?
Congrats to both gentlemen, but time will tell if dem really bring change.
Dem better fix dem water pipes before carnival come—new board or not.
Why we still getting high bills and water shortage if we reshuffling board every year?
This reaks of political patronage👀
Something don’t sit right here with me.
I wonder if short shirt running low on funds?
Seems to be someone is rewarding him..
Deliver us oh lord!
How old are these men ? Emmanuel looks like he over 65 …..so young people cannot be on boards too? Why these old people don’t want to retire ? Give the younger generations a chance .
Has he banned some of his calypso from the airwaves?
Well, can a DJ invite him to listen to what he had to say about the labour party government.
He has apparently forgeten the lyrics of his songs.
Then again, we have to forgive old age actions.
He is not responsible.
Some people however need to know when to say enough is enough.
He needs to take a trip to the Hospice and have a chat with the Old Fart.
He moved from parliament to hospice.
Is he the speaker there?
Will Shortshirt go there and sing two calypso to him?
Oh, one more thing.
Has Ckauzette Mason gone to visit him?
I hope the chicken wings is not hampering her movement.
Know when to exit the stage!!!!!!
My highest respect to mcleen Emmanuel who transcend political party, you have a lot of nationalist ideology deep down inside you, I hope you ask how can an electricity manager still be employed for presiding over the destruction of APUA property? that APUA doesn’t generate electricity anymore, in other countries a position is created called the ” generation engineer” who takes care of the power station who is senior to the electricity manager, that need to be created and move this very bad minded obnoxious electricity manager we have now, he is a torment to other staff subordinated to him, some just leave or transfer to other department to avoid him, and he imparts nothing to the electricity division staff, back in the days George Piggott will come out and go up on the pole and teach and implement new idea that saves the company monies.
Why do people choose to be so mean and nasty? Is it because you are able write anonymously? I don’t know how many of you can be so evil? Even regarding his lyrical content, they’re only satirical. You take them as you wish. Written for him many moons ago. This is a different times era.
Sir Watt’s being in hospice is something to ridicule? I hope and trust the writer lives that long to enjoy peace of mind. ) He served his country with esteem.
A wicked set of people!!!
If a person collapse at a gambling house/business, opted to be taken home and then had to be taken to Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, what does that say of that individual?
The last straw have come down.
One big dutty trupz but God na done he work yet.
Dave ray one big trupz and a dose of hush!!
You already sold your soul.
Did you pay that lady back her money yet??
Eh did you?
Good luck to you..
What does it gain a man to have all this wealth and no soul!
