Message of Condolence
Lady Carlisle and I are deeply saddened by the tragic death of the Honourable Asot Michael. Two months ago, he accompanied us to church. Afterwards, we spent the afternoon having lunch at our home, sharing a time of fellowship together. We discovered that he was more spiritual than most people might have thought.
As he was leaving, he expressed the desire to repeat the experience. Due to his busy schedule, we were unable to meet again in September. This is why we treasure the fellowship we shared in August. Little did we know it would be our last meeting on this earth.
There has been an outpouring of grief from those who knew him. He touched the lives of many in our beloved nation. Men like the Honourable Asot Michael come along rarely, and it may be a long time before we see his like again. Like most of us, he was not perfect, but he had a good heart. The famous poet Dylan Thomas reminds us that none of us is wholly bad or wholly good.
We join the nation in extending our sincerest condolences to the Michael family, and we pray that God will give them strength during this difficult time.
Sir James Carlisle, Governor-General Emeritus,
& Lady Carlisle

I remember hearing him speak in Parliament years ago and he recommitted his life to God after his surgery.
