He was making reference to the appointment of Sir George Walter as National Hero.

    • Is this really tru?e, Gram? Or is this just a political rumor? The reality is IF any “convicted child molester” is waling the streets, something is very wrong. Pedophiles cannot be cured. That is why they need to be locked up for the remainder of their natural lives, if not in 1735 then the mental hospital, or at minimum lifetime confinement under house arrest. If that’s the jusstifiction then Wrigley George (perhaps even Chester Hughes )needs to be made national hero As far as my memory of his short time in office, I recall the many cotroversies (Blue chicken, Hallstead alegedly abusing his office to get money from the hotels re water, George being forced to fire his brother for corrupt acts, the then government trying to steal land from a family member of mine, Them locking up Tim Hector, CMC was an example of value destruction with the wastage, the lawless mentality (vigilante) like under the UPP (eg Jutice square) that made them think they were judge and jury. Now the good I recall hearing is Social security started under PLM (They too were derelict in handing in payments I have heard), They created some secondary schools, LIAT was started under PLM (see Brethen, based on that wrong link you provided, you are as lost as many re George Walter contribition)

      • Tenman don’t forget the Labour Code that was copied in every Caribbean territory, the Representation of the People’s Act and the founding of the Antigua & Barbuda Development Bank and being the main driving force to get the AT&LU to become owners of their own headquarters, fighting against VC Bird for the betterment of workers.

        He has also not brought any shame to the name of Antigua as Lester has done, with his many corrupt dealings and nefarious characters he attracted to this small country.

And by the way, when the political history of Antigua and Barbuda is written, there will be no government that has done more in five (5) years of governance than the PLM under the leadership of George Walter. You need to go and acquaint yourself with the history of the country over the last 60 years.

As for the election of 76, PLM actually won the popular vote. Also, Baldwin Spencer is a PLM man; Charlesworth Samuel was a PLM man; Donald Halstead was a PLM, so how did we “disappear? The scholarship is there. Educate yourself about Antiguan history before you come on de people site talking foolishness.

  21. instead of trying to build our little nation and try to solve the problems we are now facing, we take the time to curse and bring down who ever we can. Antigua is in a state of mess and we fight with each other for nothing. don’t you all see that we are moving backwards? we cant even do the three most important things that needs to be fore most looked after i.e. Heath, Education and Food. instead all that we do is open our big mouths and say nothing, raise our hands and do nothing, hopefully awake each day and just go about our selfish ways.     2). SELLING STEEL FRAME TO BENJIES

Someone gave Guiana Island to an Asian man for peppercorn price. Was that man Gorge Walter?     • @Really:George Walter as Premier,bought 2 sets of Steel Frames from the Government of Dominica for personal usage.He then sold one set to the Government of which he was the head of,for the prices of both sets of Steel Frames.He the lost the elections in 1976 to the ALP of VC Bird.They had an investigation into the Steel Frames and charged him with Misbehavior in Public Office.He was tried and found guilty sentenced to 1735.He subsequently appealed and won on Appeal.As far back as I could remember,no other Politician had ever been charged with such a crime of MISBEHAVIOR IN PUBLIC OFFICE.I often wondered with those IHI TAPES heard around this world and using of insider informations,enriching of self, concubines and family members.How is it no one in PUBLIC OFFICES WERE EVER CHARGED WITH SUCH CRIMES?
