The Government of Antigua and Barbuda Second Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project is moving eastwards with road resulting in a single Lane traffic on a section of Sir Sydney Walling Highway (SSWH).
A new traffic management plan is now in please for a section of Sir Sydney Walling Highway to facilitate road rehabilitation works from the Mount Joy Roundabout, to the turn off to PotWorks.
The contracting firm, CO Williams Construction Limited (COWCL) has completed the Base between Parham Corner and Mount Joy Roundabout and wishes to continue past the Roundabout towards the turn off to PotWorks.
Representatives from the contracting firm met on site on Monday with members of the Traffic Department of the Royal Antigua and Barbuda Police Force to determine an acceptable way to implement traffic control measures to proceed with the planned works.
As a result of the meeting, the traffic will be reduced to a single lane flow of traffic only. Temporary Traffic Lights will be on hand to provide guidance for road users. The public is urged to be mindful that refusing to follow the traffic light controls is a ticketed offence.
The Traffic Department has requested that painted drums with reflective paint be placed where lanes are temporarily closed in an effort to improve sight lines.
