Simon and George in war of words over AC’s

STATEMENT FROM HON. KELVIN SIMON

The announcement by Caretaker Senator Dwayne George regarding the air conditioning units at Urlings Primary School reeks of political desperation. Let me be clear: no one is against progress or infrastructure development that benefits the children and staff of Urlings Primary School. However, let us not pretend that this is anything other than a cheap attempt to mask the incompetence of the ABLP government and distract from their failures in delivering timely and meaningful results for our communities.

The facts are these: these air conditioning units were installed 18 months ago—just in time to sweeten voters ahead of a by-election. Since then, they have been sitting idle, a glaring monument to the ABLP’s penchant for optics over substance. It is only now, after significant public pressure and scrutiny, that they’ve finally been made operational. To hear Senator George frame this as some grand accomplishment is laughable. The people of Urlings deserve better than the bare minimum being sold as a major achievement.

We also won’t tolerate Senator George’s attempt to gaslight the community with accusations of “misinformation.” The reality is this: if the ABLP had done their job properly from the start, there would be no cause for concern or criticism. Instead, they have dragged their feet while our children endured uncomfortable conditions.

Let me remind the Senator and his government of one simple truth: when Shugy talks, Gaston Browne is forced to act. It’s a game of “Simon Says,” and Kelvin Simon is watching every move they make. Rest assured, we will be holding their feet to the fire to ensure that the northern wing upgrades are completed promptly, without further delay or political spin.

The ABLP can play their political mind games all they want, but the people of St. Mary’s South are not so easily fooled. The era of gimmicks and half-measures is over. It’s time for this government to either step up or step aside.

Signed,
Hon. Kelvin Simon
Member of Parliament for St. Mary’s South
