Shaveesa Gasper is overjoyed and grateful as she returns home to take on a new role with the Ministry of the Creative Industries.
A graduate of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, she will serve as a lecturer, among other responsibilities.
Expressing deep appreciation, she thanked Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s Office, British High Commissioner Karen Mae Hill, Senator Shenella Govia, and the Board of Education for their support in making her studies in Jamaica possible.
Shaveesa’s journey has been one of resilience. After suffering burns over 95% of her body in 2018 and undergoing life-saving surgeries in Martinique and France, she persevered through immense challenges.
Grateful for the unwavering support of loved ones, she is eager to inspire others through drama instruction, workshops, and seminars.
“I look forward to a future that dims the past and brings hope and creativity to our community,” she said. Her story is a testament to determination and the power of support in overcoming adversity.
