Fifty-three-year-old Dave Henry who was convicted of larceny more than three times in 2020, has come before the court again for stealing a cooler and tool box totaling $1500.
The man who pleaded guilty to the crime on Wednesday, was sentenced a day later to fulfill 6 months of community service at the St.John’s Magistrates’ Court itself.
Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh in making her decision said “prison does not help you. As a matter of a fact, it makes you worse…i want to teach you to work for what you want.”
The crime that brought Henry back in the hands of the court occurred on December 20,2020.
At around 10am the serial thief went into the garage of a Gambles resident and stole the two aforementioned items.
A neighbour caught him entering and leaving the property and captured photos of him in the act.
The matter was investigated and he admitted to the police that he was guilty.
However, after pleading guilty on Wednesday, he told the Chief Magistrate that he did not take the tool box but was beaten by police into admission.
He said that he stole the tool box and sold it to a Guyanese man who he described to the police.

Put up pictures of him so ppl know how he looks. Order him to a good beating with a bull bud, take some skin off his back…. that is how you deal with thief
In mother Africa he would be stoned on the spot. The least we could do here is lock him up in the mental hospital, and hope he gets some treatment. YES, publish his picture so he people can be on the watch for this TIEF.
Not only is he a thief but a LIAR too.
Karine James, he is a thief not a slave beating people with a bull bud is what the slave owners use to do to your great grandparents
How about we hang that sign ” I AM A THIEF” around his neck for a week. Maybe that will humble him.
