The commissioner assured the public that the matter is being actively investigated but disputed claims of a widespread issue within the organization.

Commissioner Rodey stated, “Yes, there is an investigation going on as we speak, so I wouldn’t get much into that.

There is an investigation into that particular matter, but the statement that generally suggests the police force is rife with that type of problem, I would not concur. We do not have many of those types of reports within the organization, so I would not agree to that allegation that there’s a rift and a serious problem.”

Addressing concerns about the satisfaction of the officer involved in the case, Commissioner Rodey emphasized that active steps are being taken to address the situation.

“The accusation that there’s nothing being done to bring satisfaction to the officer is not incorrect if the matter is actively under investigation right now. I wouldn’t say it’s not true to say that we are not doing anything about it.”

Commissioner Rodey defended the police force’s track record of addressing internal issues, stating, “Over the years, if persons just take a little look at history in the police force, we have always stood strong when it comes to investigating our own. We have been criticized for it both internally and externally, but that is what has been happening over the years. I don’t think you can fault us that we do not take action when we have to take action. We have done it in the past, and I think we will continue.”

He further emphasized the commitment of the present leadership to instill professionalism and integrity within the force.

“The present leadership of the force continues to engage the officers and encourages them when it comes to how they behave themselves. We are very strong on professionalism but also on integrity; it is one of our core values.”

Commissioner Rodey reaffimed his stance against any form of misconduct within the police force. “I am one of them that continues to preach it, continue to teach it, and I think it is coming from Senior Management that persons have to be responsible. It is not one of them that I would condone any kind of bad behavior from any police officer.”

The investigation is ongoing, and Commissioner Rodey assured the public that appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings.

  1. Sexual harassment has been alleged in the police force for a very long time. We’ve all heard the stories about how the female officers are treated like finger towels and passed around. I hope if there is any truth to the allegations that the commissioner will address it properly and punish the criminals.
