Antigua and Barbuda Senator Hon. Rawdon Turner has announced his resignation from the Senate, effective December 27, 2024, in a letter addressed to Senate President Hon. Alincia Williams-Grant.
Turner, who represents the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), stated his intention to seek nomination and election as the parliamentary representative for the St. Peter’s constituency in the Lower House.
In his resignation letter, Turner expressed gratitude to Senate President Williams and his fellow Senators for their support and friendship during his tenure.
“Although my time as a Senator has been brief, I am truly thankful to you, Madam President, and my fellow Senators in the Upper House, for the steadfast support and friendship you have shown me during my tenure,” he wrote.
Turner also reaffirmed his commitment to public service, highlighting his aspirations to represent the constituents of St. Peter’s in Parliament.
The resignation comes as Turner transitions from his role in the Senate to pursue a more prominent position within the Lower House, where he seeks to build on his legislative contributions.
The letter was copied to Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne and Clerk to Parliament Mrs. Rosemarie Weston.
Turner’s move is anticipated to further energize political activity within the St. Peter’s constituency, where he aims to succeed current representative Asot Michael. His resignation underscores the ongoing shifts within the ABLP as it prepares for the upcoming electoral period.

Though some members may make it appear to be so, these are really not about ‘…MORE MONEY,’ or making ‘…MORE MONEY.’
