Antigua and Barbuda Government Senator Lamin Newton has praised Creative Industries Minister Matthew, Junior Minister Senator Govia, and their team for an outstanding execution of Carnival 2025.
Describing the event as unforgettable, Newton highlighted the high quality of music and the flawless organisation of shows.
He singled out the legendary band Burning Flames, celebrating their 40th anniversary and calling for them to be knighted as National Heroes following their electrifying performance at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.
Newton also commended the continuous improvement of masquerade bands, noting their vibrant displays and excellent organisation.
The senator welcomed the strong presence of police and defence forces, which ensured a secure environment for attendees.
“Wear this year’s celebrations as a badge of honour. This was by far one of the best carnival celebrations we have ever experienced,” he said.

How is this news? How is this not just political? How is this not Shermain seeking to futuer the political ambition of a friend. Mr Newton has no standing or expertise on the subject; this his comments on the matter carries no weight. How about getting someone who has some experience on the matter to comment i.e. past minister or chair of carnival. Or do a poll or something of substance.
Thankfully no shootings or fatalities
Security was tight and well-organized. Could party stress-free, much respect to the law enforcement teams.
If every Carnival could be like this one, just go ahead and extend it to two weeks! lol
