Senator Lamin Newton has publicly expressed his appreciation to the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), crediting the organisation and its leadership for playing a pivotal role in his personal and professional development.
In a statement released on Thursday, Senator Newton described the ABLP as an “illustrious institution” and said membership in the party had provided him with meaningful opportunities for growth.
“I take great pleasure in stating that I’m a member of this illustrious institution called the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party,” he said. “Being a member of the ABLP has assisted me in my personal development and I am eternally grateful.”
Senator Newton also praised Prime Minister Gaston Browne for his approach to leadership, particularly in relation to empowering younger members of the party and fostering an environment of mentorship.
“The Hon. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, recognises talent whenever he sees it and continues to provide the necessary opportunities to foster growth and development,” Newton said.
He highlighted the Prime Minister’s commitment to succession planning and the party’s broader philosophy of equitable development.
“The Prime Minister and the membership of the ABLP never feel the need to monopolise knowledge since we stand on the principles of empowerment, equitable distribution and fairness,” he added.
Newton concluded his statement with a message of thanks to the party’s leadership, noting that he would “forever maintain an attitude of gratitude.”
The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party, which currently forms the government, has often underscored its commitment to developing future leaders through active involvement in party affairs and national initiatives.

”The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party, which currently forms the government, has often underscored its commitment to developing future leaders through active involvement in party affairs and national initiatives”.
Since when, when during the last election ABLP campaigned on the basis of the ‘vast wisdom and experience’ they had in the party including cobwebs like Cutie, Molwyn, Robin, Gerald, Max Hurst and Melford.
You guys just go with the flow and we can see right through all of you: you are trying to contrast yourself with the opposition leader, BUT you CANNOT CONTRAST YOUR HYPOCRISY, the ABLP has nurtured all of you into HYPOCRISY and Antiguans don’t like HYPOCRITES and BACK-BITERS.
I’m happy for Lamin, but it highlights the inequality of Antiguas society. This is a perfect example of how currying political favor and loyalty helps you to advance, while other young people remains on the corner. Let’s be clear, Lamin might be a good human being but everyone known he is an awful politician
Mi respect de man fi show thanks, but mi hope he na turn one ah dem who only see red.
Mi glad fi see youth like Lamin rise up. Just memba who you represent now.
Mi granny say, ‘praise when due, but don’t lose yuhself in de praise.
Congrats to him, but don’t forget—Antigua bigger than party.
Dem young ones coming up now, mi just hope dem nah fall inna old ways.
Lazimeen please give credit where credit is due.
I know you want to rob Gaston Browne’s bald head.
However if someone was instrumental in your development give that person the credit.
Please give VERONICA BENJAMIN her credit.
If you fail to do that she will give you a document to read and stand in front of you.
You don’t want that!!!!!!!
I am in support of Lammin. He did well, considering he was scraped from the bottom of the barrel.
