Jonathan Joseph Calls for Urgent Action to Address Healthcare Crisis at UPP Rally

Senator Jonathan Joseph made a call last night for immediate action to address the severe shortages in Antigua and Barbuda’s healthcare system, highlighting the shocking lack of supplies in community clinics, including something as basic as tissue paper.

Speaking at the United Progressive Party (UPP) rally in Seaview Farm, Joseph said, “Our nurses, they are tired and beaten, and our medical system has gone to the dogs.”

He underscored the urgent need for cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Public Works to repair crumbling clinic buildings and ensure they are properly equipped to serve the public.

Joseph detailed the struggles of healthcare workers who are forced to work without essential resources such as filing cabinets, trolleys, cleaning supplies, and even toilet paper.

“We never had that problem under the United Progressive Party,” he said, as he condemned the current administration for failing to prioritize healthcare despite collecting millions through the Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP).

He went on to express deep concern for the poor and vulnerable, particularly pensioners who, despite receiving modest sums, are forced to spend significant amounts on medical care.
