Break-Ins in St. George

Senator Michael Freeland has announced a series of new security initiatives in response to a recent wave of break-ins affecting the St. George constituency.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Freeland said he is working with local businesses, community members, and government authorities to bolster safety across the area.

He confirmed that discussions are underway with business leaders to provide additional security cameras for institutions affected by the incidents. In parallel, plans are being developed with the government to install comprehensive community surveillance cameras throughout the constituency.

Freeland also highlighted the contribution of community activist Bakesha James, who has donated funds for the installation of security cameras at Pigotts Primary School, underscoring the importance of community involvement in safeguarding children’s learning environments.

Speaking on law enforcement support, the senator said that following discussions with the Attorney General, the Honourable Steadroy Benjamin, assurances have been given for increased policing in affected areas. Plans have also been prioritised to establish a community watch group, encouraging residents to play an active role in protecting their neighbourhoods.

“Your safety is paramount,” Freeland said. “As a community, we will never relent in our efforts to maintain a safe environment where our children can learn and thrive without fear.”

He urged members of the public with information about the break-ins to report to the police or contact the CrimeStoppers Tips Hotline at 800-TIPS (8477).

Freeland’s statement emphasised that the St. George community remains united in ensuring that those responsible for the criminal acts are identified, apprehended, and face the full consequences of the law.

“Together, with vigilance, cooperation, and determination, we will ensure that St. George remains a safe place for all who live, work, and learn,” he said.

  1. There we go.
    Politics before principle!
On whose behalf is Senator Auction speaking?
Where is the second security firm that was said was intended to bolstered security at government schools and owned by the prime minister’s driver?
If there is deficiency in the system Freeland needs to speak to it and let the relevant authority address it.
It cannot be dealt with in isolation.
The world knows that there is supposed to be two security companies providing security at government schools.
When there is a breaking at one school it is a breaking at all.
It speaks to weakness in the system.
So why is Auction Freeland speaking to Piggotts primary school?
Will every labour candidate and care taker come up with his or her own security plan to deal with break-ins at the schools in theor constituency?
That’s a recipe for disaster and confusion.
    Confusion never fixes any problem.
    It worsens it.
So Auction Freeland, let the ministry or department respinsible for security at government schools and institutions do their work.
    Do not interfere.
    You may have suggestions.
However let them do what the security firm with the yellow shirts are milking the treasury for.
Stop trying to look relevance in the constituency
Don’t politicze the criminal works in the constituency.
I would make it appear that it is a planned thing and then you would come as the savior.
Again, I being you, do not politicize neither genuine work nor criminality.

  4. The government should get solar powered streetlight with camera combination out of china to replace all existing streetlights system and help the police and government solve crimes.
