Senator Dwayne George, accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry of Finance, represented Antigua and Barbuda at the 2025 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, D.C.

The high-level forum convened finance ministers, central bank governors, and policymakers from across the globe to discuss economic trends, policy priorities, and strategies for sustainable development.

Antigua and Barbuda’s presence at the meetings underscores the country’s commitment to responsible economic management and engagement with the international financial community.

Delegates used the opportunity to advocate for Small Island Developing States (SIDS), emphasizing challenges in climate resilience, debt sustainability, and access to concessional financing. The meetings also offered avenues to explore technical assistance and capacity-building programs aimed at advancing national development and economic stability.

By taking part in the global discussions, Antigua and Barbuda continues to strengthen its voice on the world stage while fostering relationships with key international partners and institutions.

  1. Hold on one doggone minute! Didn’t the ABLP when they returned to power in 2014 vilify and castigate UPP’S Baldwin Spencer for his involvement with the IMF?

So if Dwane ‘The Muscle Man’ George has visions of doing likewise, I’ll be interested to see if Mr Muscle gets the same condemnation as the former UPP leader.

  2. @ Brix….

Take it easy pal. There’s no involvement geez.

  3. This right here proves that any idiot can get into politics, Dwayne was in class with me and was a repeated dunce… showing that it’s not what you know but who you know and the association you keep..
