Condolences on the Passing of the Honourable Hilson Brother B. Baptist
It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the late Honourable Hilson Brother B. Baptist.
His untimely passing has left a profound void, not only in the hearts of those closest to him but also in the wider St. Mary’s South community and our nation as a whole.
Brother B., as he was affectionately known, was more than a Member of Parliament—he was a pillar of strength, a voice for the voiceless, and a man deeply committed to the development and upliftment of his people.
His years of service as Minister of Parliament for St. Mary’s South were marked by unwavering dedication, bold leadership, and an unshakable love for the constituency he called home.
He worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those he represented, often walking the roads and sitting with his constituents to hear their concerns firsthand.
His legacy is etched in the stories of those he helped, the projects he championed, and the spirit of progress he inspired throughout the community.
Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived in service to others. His contributions will not be forgotten, and the seeds he has planted will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
On behalf of myself and the entire St. Mary’s South Branch of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party, I offer our heartfelt sympathies.
May his family find comfort in knowing that his life made a meaningful impact, and may they be surrounded by love and support during this difficult time.

Brother B was an advocate for good governance.
Is that one of the seeds he sewed?
You certainly have not watered that seed.

I think as a people we are too politically divided. Dwayne George spent a considerable amount of his time/ youth, campaigning tirelessly for Brother B. So at least at one point they were very close. He ( Dwayne) was never elected to political office, never appointed to the senate, never chaired a board, held no position in government under the UPP.
When you look at the long list of defectors from the UPP to the APLP to include- Anthony Smith, Manzoor , Shawn Bird , Evergreen and many others. Those are the hypocrites.
You can say that he is opportunistic but certainly it’s his democratic right. What right thinking person in his position would not offer condolences.
In the other hand a number of sitting UPP MP’s to include the party monarch Shugy, the now Representative are the ones his spirit should be choking because of their disloyalty and behavior.
Suggy needs to try and emulate Brother B representation of that constituency and the people. While he was in opposition he spent time developing a relationship with the constituents. He truly showed love for his people. He represented them and worked hard on their behalf. He never lost the common touch.
As the minister of Agriculture without a degree, he was the best in the region. Honesty in service is more important than any degree.
