Search Continues for New Manager to Improve Cooks Sanitary Landfill Operations

3

The National Solid Waste Management Authority is actively searching for a new general manager to improve operations at the Cooks Sanitary Landfill, announced Chairman Michael Joseph.

Persistent smoke from the landfill has long troubled nearby villagers and drawn criticism from St. John’s Rural West MP Richard Lewis. Joseph explained that despite advertising the position last August, only one unqualified applicant responded.

The position, vacant since 2002, will be advertised again in hopes of attracting a suitable candidate.

  1. Perhaps they could have a current worker or a partially qualified person trained for the post? Would be good to have someone who could handle everything including recycling, hazardous waste disposal etc. in addition to whatever they normally do over there. Perhaps provide a scholarship for someone to go and be trained?

  2. What are the qualifications is Solid Waste looking for? Didn’t Solid Waste have a Succession program in place…… This is what happens when organizations are not proactive.

  3. They all left and some terminated upon ALP coming to office 2014 election, even black Antigua garbage truck was stopped from working an replace with syrians truck getting the contract.
