Scrub Life Cares, a public health NGO dedicated to advancing menstrual equity and expanding access to comprehensive reproductive and sexual health literacy across Antigua and Barbuda, has announced that its 5th Annual Grow With The Flo Women & Girls Health Expo will take place on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026. This milestone event arrives as the organization also celebrates its fifth anniversary this November, marking a significant moment of growth, impact, and community partnership.
Since its launch in 2021, the Grow With The Flo Expo has evolved into one of Antigua and Barbuda’s most anticipated community health gatherings, bringing together women, girls, families, educators, health professionals, and partners for a day rooted in dignity, access, and educational empowerment. Over the past five years, the Expo has become a national platform for health education and community connection, reflecting Scrub Life Cares’ commitment to shaping a more equitable future.
“This year holds deep significance for us,” said Tanya Ambrose, MPH, Founder and CEO of Scrub Life Cares. “As both the organization and our Expo turn five, we’re celebrating the growth of a movement, one that has been shaped by our community, our partners, and every individual and family we’ve had the privilege to serve. This event is a testament to what can happen when dignity, equity, and education are prioritized.”
While the Expo was initially designed to uplift women and girls, Ambrose has witnessed a meaningful shift over the past year, with increasing attendance from men and boys, including fathers attending with their children. This reflects a growing recognition that menstrual health, reproductive literacy, and overall family wellness are community-wide matters, not solely women’s issues. In response, the 2026 Expo will deepen its family-centered approach, inviting mothers, daughters, sons, partners, fathers, caregivers, and entire households to participate fully in the day’s experiences.
This year’s Expo will be the most expansive and intentional yet. In addition to its core reproductive and sexual health education programming, the event will introduce a strengthened Maternal & Child Health component designed to support families across the life course. This will include prenatal and postpartum education, breastfeeding and newborn wellness support, maternal mental health resources, early childhood development and parenting tools, and activities that promote family bonding. The introduction of this component reflects both community needs and Scrub Life Cares’ broader public health commitment. “Maternal and child health is a vital part of the public health continuum,” Ambrose shared. “As our communities grow and evolve, we must ensure that parents and families have access to culturally relevant, evidence-informed education. This expansion reinforces our mission to support individuals at every life stage, from menstruation to motherhood and beyond.”
Scrub Life Cares’ ongoing advocacy and research efforts have further positioned the organization as a public health leader advancing menstrual equity and expanding comprehensive health literacy across Antigua and Barbuda. Through community engagement, school programs, national partnerships, and evidence-based initiatives, the organization has built a strong foundation of trust, education, and impact over its first five years.
As Scrub Life Cares celebrates its fifth anniversary and prepares to host the fifth edition of its flagship event, the organization invites families, educators, health professionals, community leaders, and supporters to save the date and join the 2026 Grow With The Flo Women & Girls Health Expo, an event poised to be bigger, bolder, and more impactful than ever.
