The government’s proposed School of Agriculture is set to begin offering short courses as early as October 2025, with classes to be held at the former Glanvilles Secondary School plant.
Education Director Clare Browne said the institution will eventually aim to become a degree-granting body under the umbrella of the Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies (ABCAS). In the initial phase, however, students will receive certification in short courses.
Subjects will include animal husbandry and plant science, with Associate Degrees expected later in the programme’s development.
Browne confirmed that instructors have already been identified. “These are experts in agriculture within the education system and they will be able to identify areas where we need to focus on,” he explained.
Officials believe the Glanvilles facility is well-suited to host the new school, which will operate as part of ABCAS.

At some point in the future, I’m enrolling in this school. As a pensioner, second childhood, I want free uniform, free transportation, free food, free stipend for my participation in Work Study assignments, on my own farm. I don’t want no land, just all the perks and concessions granted, to any religious organization, Not_For but for PROFIT, non-profit!
Mr. PM, Gaston Browne we can negotiate the same deals, as say a Barrett got when he was getting concessions, as an alleged #BEACH_BUM, in the Caribbean Tourism Industry.
Now, the reason why this Child of the Essence of Nature’s ether, some call [it] omnipotence by ump-teens or ump_tweens of names wants all these while attending this school. I plan to be, the oldest kid in the Garden of life, and ain’t no better place, to be a kid, first or second go around, than in a garden vibZing on the symbiotic nature’s of what surrounds us all.
Get the water situation together though, and please keep Cornell Hughes from any discussion regarding AGRICULTURE or AQUACULTURE, he’s like carbolic acid, raw MONSANTO pesticides, germicide and petroleum products to edible plants, flowers, and our entire flora and fauna.
Or maybe, since he’s back posting on ANR, he has repented from his sins against our local food industry.
