The top performing team members at Sandals Grande Antigua were wined, dined, awarded and rewarded at the resort’s annual Prestige Awards last week. The night, celebrated under a James Bond movie theme – Mission: Top Secret – was filled with elegance, laughs, and camaraderie.
The Team Members were nominated based on their job performance in 2017 and each winner received an engraved acrylic award and framed certificate, plus other gifts to include Microsoft Xbox Ones, Apple TVs, Beats headphones and cash prizes.
The top Award is the Diamond Team Member of the year, followed by the runner-up, or Platinum Team Member award. These are given to the team members whose dedication and commitment to the organisation is unquestionable. They are hardworking, respectful, and highly skilled and accomplished in their field.
Nicole Greene, Kitchen Admin Assistant, was named the 2017 Diamond Team Member, while this year’s platinum award went to Butler Wendel Richards.
In addition to a big screen smart TV and a paid vacation stay at an overseas Sandals resort, Nicole will compete against top winners from other Sandals and Beaches resorts for the Ultimate Award next month, where she has a chance to win a private jet flight to a regional destination of choice and a cash prize of US$2,500.
The A-Team of the year goes to the department which works diligently as a unit to meet and exceed the needs of our guests on a daily basis. The 2017 award went to the Club Sandals department.
The MVP award went to Veronica Carlos, Human Resources Manager for leading her team successfully to achieve departmental goals in 2017.
The All Rounder of the Year is a supervisory-level employee who bridges the gap between team members and managers whilst leading the team in a fair, firm and friendly manner. This year Rachael Morris of the Housekeeping Department took home that award.
The People’s Choice Award, voted for directly by the winner’s peers, was presented to Courtney Anthony of Room Service.
John Rayne, the resort driver, received the Pace Setter Award which is decided by the General Manager. John is an exemplary employee who is dedicated, consistent, passionate and dependable.
Maintenance Coordinator Carol Josiah copped the Heart of the House Award which is reserved for a team member in a support role who keeps the needs of internal customers at the forefront of the operation.
For the second year in a row, the Money-maker Award went to Latoya Edwards, a Resort Shop team member, for being driven and having a “can-do” attitude in propelling the resort’s revenue.
Athena James captured the Standing Ovation Award for working assiduously in assisting with the resort’s operation through the effective accounting of goods and cost control.
Linneth Peart-Westmorland is the 2017 Foundation Sentinel. She received the award for consistently promoting the work of the Sandals Foundation and volunteering her time for community outreach programmes.
The Circle of Joy Award went to Bartender Jahilda Moulon who has been awarded for her natural radiance which is not only appreciated by guests but also the entire team.
The 2017 Earth Guardian is Alberto Jarvis who was awarded for his work in promoting and upholding the company’s environmental policies and practices.
Claudine Deer, restaurant supervisor at the Drunken Duck received the Legendary Team Member award. She is recognised for her performance weekly, by guests, through verbal commendations, written letters, and online travel sites etc. Claudine is extremely popular with the guests.
The Mover & Shaker award was presented to Tequan Andrews a Front Desk agent. He has shown marked improvement in performance in his assigned roles and responsibilities.
