A ruling is expected Monday in the high-profile case of former government minister Dean Jonas, who faces charges of assault, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
The charges, related to a February 2023 incident at his Scott’s Hill home, were refiled after the court dismissed an earlier jurisdictional challenge by Jonas’ legal team.
Despite this, Jonas’ lawyer contends the refiled charges do not introduce new accusations.
The case, stemming from a custody dispute that escalated into a confrontation with police, has garnered widespread public interest. Magistrate Dane Hamilton Jr. will issue his decision next week.
