Ruling Delayed in Dean Jonas Case, New Date Set for September 10

Magistrate Dane Hamilton has delayed his ruling in the case against former MP Dean Jonas, now set for September 10.

Jonas faces charges, including resisting arrest, threatening language, and assault, from a February 23, 2023 incident at his Scott’s Hill home.

His lawyers are seeking dismissal, arguing the police refiled charges without serving him and criticizing the prolonged delay in the case.

Magistrate Hamilton cited the need for more time to finalize his written decision.

  1. This seems like some kind of underhanded thing is at play here. It is a fairly simple matter that should have already been resolved. How many delays are needed to render a verdict in such a straight forward incident?
