The Royalton Luxury Resort has already employed more three hundred workers ahead of the opening next week.
The 5-star resort hired people to work in various positions from front desk clerks, cooks and chefs to cleaners, security, constriction workers and yardmen.
The hotel’s employee population is made of primarily Antiguans, according to General Manager Christian Langlade, with a small number from two regional countries.
“99% are Antiguans, we have a fraction of people coming from Jamaica and St Lucia where we historically had our operations for several years.”
The hotelier reveals that further developmental opportunities were given to a number of people to gain experience and training overseas before returning to take up operations of the resorts.
“We also have Antiguans training aboard, future managers coming back to the country to take over the operations at some stage.”
Prime Minister Browne and the cabinet of Antigua recently toured the facilities and gave high praise over the work done.
Langlade in earlier reports indicated that hotel has already been booked up for the month of May.

What makes one an Antiguan?
Sounds like they trying to say they are not Sandals. But technically, most of Sandals Jamaicans and Guyanese have Antiguan passports through marriage or naturalisation. I bet it’s the same thing at Royalton. Anyway, once you live with in Antigua, pay bills and taxes I don’t grudge you the work
