Ralph L. Mims, president of the R. Mims World Group and board member of the Barbuda Resource Network, along with recently-retired Los Lunas ophthalmologist Dr. Donald Leach, have transported more than 1,000 eyeglasses to the eastern Caribbean island of Barbuda.
BRN’s primary goal is to enhance and improve the lives of the residents of Barbuda after Hurricane Irma devastated the island in 2017.
Dr. Leach recently retired after 30 years. Both Dr. Leach and Mims are Los Lunas Rotarians.
“As Rotarians, our primary goal is to provide services and equipment to communities in need domestically and internationally,” explained Mims.
“As an ophthalmologist, I had access to eyeglasses, and I know they will go a long way to provide much needed eye care to the residents of Barbuda,” Dr. Leach added.
