Rotary District Governor Meets Governor General During Antigua Visit

Rotary District Governor Mrs. Soraya A. J. Warner-Gustave of Rotary District 7030 (Southern Caribbean and South America) and based in St. Lucia, paid a courtesy call on the Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams and Governor General ‘s Goodwill Emissary Her Excellency Lady Williams, during her official visit to the twin-island nation.

Sir Rodney welcomed the visiting District Governor and lauded the work of Rotary Clubs on the island — particularly regarding youth development initiatives, their ongoing assistance to the Sir Lester Bird Mount St. John’s Medical Centre, and their continuous humanitarian service and advancing of goodwill and peace by giving back to the less fortunate over the years.

During their exchange, the District Governor also highlighted the upcoming Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) which Antigua and Barbuda will be hosting this weekend. The three-day youth development workshop will engage over 150 regional participants and approximately 100 local Interact members from schools across the island.

Lady Sandra Williams, President of the umbrella charitable organization the Halo Foundation, extended an invitation to the visiting team to continue collaborative efforts with Halo, citing various joint projects in the past — inclusive of the “Meals on Wheels” programme initiated by the Rotary Club of Antigua. Their Excellencies have been patrons of the Rotary Club of Antigua since 2014.

District Governor Soraya was accompanied by Assistant Governor Jonah Ormond, representatives of the Rotary Club of Antigua, President Elisa Graham, and of the Rotary Club of Antigua (Sundown) President Nicole Stevens.
