Developers of the Rosewood Resort in Barbuda have advanced US$5 million to the government to support construction of a new port on the island.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne told Parliament on Thursday that the project, delayed over branding concerns, has regained momentum.
The developers reportedly did not want the luxury resort positioned next to the existing port.
The government has agreed to relocate the port along the same stretch, farther from the resort. Browne said studies are underway, and a “solid, sustainable port” will be built once they are completed.
The new facility aims to boost Barbuda’s maritime capacity, support tourism growth, and balance high-end development with the island’s infrastructure needs.

I hope the council will take note that this advance is going to be charged to the lease payments. No need to take these people to court as well.

The Bulgarians who brought in Roosewood for the branding of the proposed resort had their local representatives visit the Council; with that request to relocate the ferry dock and build a new port.
The Council rejected the sweet-up offer to be flown to Bulgaria to see ports in Bulgaria.
The developer and Gaston are using are trying to use the port relocation further east to steal more land from the Barbuda people.
The Barbuda Local Governnent Act says all resort commercials projects has to go through a process. This project has not.
De Niro went through the process as proscribed by law. It was accomplished when the ABLP led Barbuda Council were in charge.
Trevor and McKensie were uninformed and misled by legal counsel.
The propose Roosewood project has not adhered to the law.
De Niro bought out the K-Club lease and added more land snd extended the leases.

I have to break my own policy and answer to stupid people.
An advance payment lease is a lease where the lessee pays a significant portion of the total lease cost upfront, either as a lump sum or as an “advance payment” to reduce future monthly payments.
I mean do I need to see the lease agreement to understand what an advance is. Its not a loan!
What else could you be advancing? ABST. Guest Levy? I mean how dumb can one be not to understand what advance means in this case.
Hope ALL the funds will be used for the intended purpose because grand theft is never out of season with this government. Their practicing juniors have exposed them. US$ 5mil and EC$ 15 mil are in the same realm so we need to keep our focus on those funds from Rosewood Developers.
It is good to be skeptical. But their is also a saying that goes like this, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. So be careful how you prejudge others. You may be revealing your own dirty mind.
