Lights Out, Scissors Out: Transport Board Worker Guilty After Office Brawl

A routine end to the workday erupted into chaos at the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board when two female employees clashed in a darkened room — leaving one wounded and the other facing prison.

Rockell Browne was convicted of wounding her colleague after Justice John Spencer rejected her claim that she acted in self-defence during the December 2022 confrontation.

The court heard that the trouble exploded as the complainant entered a room to collect her bag after clocking out. The women crossed paths in the doorway, where Browne allegedly shoved her colleague into a light switch, plunging the room into darkness.

A fight immediately broke out.

Another person rushed in to separate the women, but amid the commotion, Browne grabbed a pair of scissors and wounded the complainant three times.

Browne insisted she had been attacked by both women and claimed the complainant had repeatedly bumped into her at work. She said she reported the behaviour to three supervisors, but one supervisor denied ever receiving such a complaint.

She also alleged that the person who intervened joined the fight and was romantically involved with the complainant.

Justice Spencer was unconvinced and returned a guilty verdict following the judge-only trial.

Crown Counsel Curtis Cornelius prosecuted the case, while attorney Wendel Alexander represented Browne.

Browne was remanded in custody and will return to court for sentencing on Sept. 25.

  1. Conflict resolution seems to be a skill lost Antiguans lack. Why does shouting, threats and violence seem to be the preferred way to sort out differences here? Are we so lacking in intelligence that the first option is to attack someone. Society in Antigua is in a bad way. The whole island needs counselling it seems

  2. Prison because you can’t control yourself? Wow! What about your children?

  7. Who knows what the truth is here. Antiguans lie so much so this is what happens. Lets not forget, you dont have a good head when you are picking up scissors at you work place to stab some one. Real facts, her head not.good. Maximum damage is the way it is now, they think of consequences after. Grown ass woman like that. If she has children, my lord, what do you think she puts in their heads. See why white people are tired of us and dont want us in their countries

I said it last year, ” wait till the women start to get violent”. So far they are.getting picked up with guns, killing young girls and acting preditorial. I guess selling pussy is no longer fun. Who would have thought.

I can say this as my observation. People use tell me these work place bosses love to hire Hot Gal to get backroom benefits. The problem is they are.not qualified or have the first clue about a work place. I see it in every institution, no professional skills and rude. But when you’re banging the boss your protected. The whole.system suffers.

  8. I remember going to Transport Board and this young lady was soaking off her nails at her station. And others there are slow and lack basic professionalism, respect and urgency. Even the young one who supposed to be “educated.”
Bare bottom of the barrel people work at Transport Board.
