This incident was reported to the Johnsons Point Police Station by a Jennings resident, a supervisor for Amalgamated Security Services stationed at Jolly Harbour.

The woman told the Police the victim had been beaten up and robbed in the parking lot at Jolly Harbour, in the vicinity of Al Porto Restaurant, at about 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 17.

It is alleged that the 61-year-old Jolly Harbour resident was heading towards his vehicle, on the eastern side of the parking lot adjacent to the eatery, when he was approached by a man who is about 6-feet tall, of a slim build, and wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt and long
pants.

Allegedly, the perpetrator emerged from the rubbish shed in the parking lot, pointed what appeared to be a gun at the victim, and tried to take his bag.

It is further alleged that the two got into a scuffle, at which time the middle-aged man was attacked by another assailant, who was also about 6-feet tall.

As a result, the pair got the upper hand on the victim.

One of the assailants then reportedly grabbed his bag – containing $5,500 in mixed currencies, bank cards, and ID cards – from around the man’s neck and fled in a southern direction on foot.

The victim reportedly shouted for help, but the assailants had already gotten away.

A search was carried out in the surrounding areas for anyone fitting the description of the suspects, but without success.

Allegedly, the Police were able to retrieve some evidence from the scene and this could lead to the capture of the perpetrators.

Inquiries continue into this recent robbery.

    • Things probably happened so fast the security probably unaware something even transpired. Then again the security here in jolly Harbour are D+MN near useless all they good for is opening and closing gates nothing else.

  2. Unacceptable!!!.. “Fled in a southern direction on foot”? … in a gated community complex?…. Security anywhere in the world is usually ramped up by late afternoon/early evenings….. How can two 6ft persons enter a gaited community, be on the property this late, and not being observed at some point before or after the incident? Help us!

  3. Our tourism industry is now in jeopardy. What we as a citizen is going to do to protect our livelihood.

  4. I mean we can’t blame the guards when all they are given is a flash light. Come on guys. Think better. Why won’t a armed guard fire shots to scare off the bandits huh? This ain’t gonna stop until somebody son is killed by a licensed fire arm business person.

    • Well said. Remember, security is the protection of self first. I am really not pleases with what’s happening. It look like Jolly Harbour will have to consider armed guards for the safety of guest nd locals and staff too.
