The Ministry of Works will begin repairing streets in Saint John’s this week, particularly those on the carnival parade route, ahead of the opening parade on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
This temporary fix aims to ensure the smooth flow and safety of the parade.
The government has allocated over $21 million for equipment to support a nationwide road repair program, expected to begin soon.
A major obstacle has been the scarcity of sand, but a recent shipment from Montserrat, which is more cost-effective and environmentally preferable to Barbuda sand, will facilitate the repairs.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne affirmed that the Cabinet is committed to improving the city streets, providing the necessary resources to the Ministry of Works.

Seriously? This administration isn’t serious about people nor our infrastructure. A few days before our carnival ,they are going to drop asphalt like sugar cake and roll it. Our roads in St Johns ,the capital is awful . It needs more than just a carnival face lift that will last may be two weeks . These people think we are all fools in this country . The PM made an announcement that the One Nation concert finances will be doubled ,and also the days . What happen to our national festival? Can’t we put more in our culture so we can present a smooth festival for the world too see? Putting the cart before the horse again .
Always knew we had our flucking priorities upside down.
how convenient!! is t because BET TV will be here? yet All Saints road to English Harbour, Fig Tree Drive, Andy Roberts Drive, parts of Valley Road, Buckley Line in to Swetes Main Road are the worst. APUA keeping digging them back up they’re not repaired immediately just left to deteriorate more smh!! ridiculous
21 million for that mediocrity?? this is a joke!!
