Repairs to the All Saints Clinic are nearing completion, with government officials saying an announcement on the facility is expected soon.
The update was provided during the weekly post-Cabinet media briefing, where Director General of Communications in the Office of the Prime Minister, Maurice Merchant, said the work has been progressing despite public concerns about the pace of repairs.
“Yes, work has been done. It’s near completion,” Merchant said when asked about the status of the clinic.
He added that the public can expect an official update shortly.
“I think that we should have an announcement from the ministry, if not tomorrow, by next week,” Merchant said.
Merchant said the Ministry of Works has been carrying out the repairs and noted that the work involves addressing issues that have accumulated over many years.
“Everybody will think that these reconstruction and repairs that have not been done for many, many years—leading back into the early 2000s and so forth—those are repairs that can be done at the snap of a finger,” he said.
He said the ministry has been working to restore government facilities that require upgrades.
“It takes time, and the Ministry of Works has been doing its best in trying to get all of government’s facilities up to speed,” Merchant said.
