The family of Mannie James, the Bendals resident tragically killed in a police chase, has organized a beachside vigil at Jolly Beach to remember him.

James, known for operating Jet Skis on the beach, lost his life to police gunfire during a high-speed pursuit triggered by a routine stop-and-search on Lauchland Benjamin Drive.

The police have initiated a coroner’s inquest for transparency and requested public support.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by a close friend from New York to assist James’ children with funeral costs and provide support during these tough times.

The community gathers to honor James’ memory and uplift his children.

  1. So now they want to glorify an alleged criminal that was involved in shooting at the police and fleeing the scene. But when the criminal shoots and kills one of them they ask where the police protection is for the citizens. What hypocrisy.

    • I don’t think he is a criminal and I don’t believe he was the one firing at the Police…I believe he was pressured by his company and he acted out of pure fright…I wasn’t there but I just have a strong feeling he was scared out of his mind which sadly led to his demise…The Police thought Mannie was armed while chasing him through a badly lit area…

    • @Sidelines: How do you know he fired at the Police? Because they say so,does not make it so.No body tall liar than dem Police. It has been known that Police made up things to justify their actions.
