Reigning Labour Queen Aaliyah Wayne has urged the 2025 Labour Queen contestants to embrace their journey of growth and self-development, encouraging them to view the experience as an opportunity to learn and evolve, regardless of the final result.

Speaking during an appearance on The Browne and Browne Show alongside this year’s contestants, Wayne reflected on her own experiences, highlighting the personal resilience she had to develop after facing early challenges during her reign.

“One of my biggest takeaways from this journey was self-development,” she said. “Whether you win or lose, you don’t lose — you win or you learn.”

Wayne, who was crowned Labour Queen 2024, described her initial entry into pageantry as daunting, admitting that she had limited experience before entering the competition. She shared that her path to the crown was not without obstacles, revealing that two weeks before the pageant she had lost her uncle, a deeply personal loss that she said made her even more determined to succeed.

“On the night of the pageant when I won, I cried. It was overwhelming — not just because of the win, but because of the love and support from my constituency and even people who hadn’t initially come to support me,” Wayne said.

Looking ahead, Wayne revealed plans to continue her educational pursuits. Having previously worked as an Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapist assisting autistic toddlers, she expressed a strong desire to further her studies in psychology and become a speech pathologist — a career choice inspired by her own experiences overcoming a childhood speech impediment.

“In five years’ time, I hope to have completed my bachelor’s degree in psychology and be working towards becoming a speech pathologist here in Antigua,” she said. “It’s something that resonates with me deeply.”

Wayne also spoke warmly about the camaraderie among Labour Queen contestants, praising the supportive environment that she believes plays a crucial role in each contestant’s development. She encouraged the 2025 participants to treasure the bonds they have built and to focus on the personal growth that the pageant experience offers.

“You only go in for Labour Queen once,” she reminded them. “Embrace the journey.”

As she prepares to hand over her crown at the Labour Queen 2025 pageant, Wayne said she is confident that each contestant, regardless of the outcome, will leave the stage stronger, more confident, and better prepared to take on new challenges.
