Regional Leaders Attend Swearing-In of Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre
Caribbean leaders, including Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne, attended today’s swearing-in ceremony for Philip J. Pierre, who began his second term as Saint Lucia’s prime minister.
Pierre took the oath of office before a gathering of regional dignitaries, among them the prime ministers of St Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Barbados and Dominica, along with St Vincent and the Grenadines’ opposition leader. The event marked the start of another five-year mandate.
In brief remarks, Pierre said he was “excited and optimistic about the future of Saint Lucia” and pledged to “do my best for the development of my country.” He described the moment as one of humility and reaffirmed his commitment to overseeing finance, national security and justice, constituency development and people empowerment. “God bless our island Saint Lucia,” he said.

Pierre begins his new term as the government continues economic recovery efforts and advances policies on youth programmes, community infrastructure, fiscal stability and justice reform.

This guy show up for himself and everyone else except for Antiguan’s.
The man is flight risk, every chance he gets, he flea from his own problems in Antigua.
Like a recent news syndicate reported, not one corruption case or human trafficking case has been brought forth in Antigua in the past 25 years. GB has a lot to fix in his own house, but the man keeps running away from his responsibilities like an estranged husband.
This man travels more than the pope himself. 😂
Caricom???
Caricom integration????
Caricom unity?????
It’s an old boys club.
The ceremony was attended by labour heads of state.
It was tge swearing in ceremony for a reelected head of state.
A labour government at that.
Keep that in mind.
A few days earlier there was the swearing ceremony for the newly elected government of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
It was a landslide, historic, victory for the new government.
The labour governments in the region were at pains to congratulate the new prime let alone attend the swearing in ceremony.
I ask the question, were they in St Lucia as heads of state on official function or as labour comrades in support of a returning labour government?
Why were they all absent from the St Vincent swearing in ceremony?
Is St Vincent not a part of the region and Caricom or were they not willing to accept a non labour party government?
It is those political narrow minded decisions that show us what Caricom is all about and woll bring about its death.
When leaders of one island will stand in solidarity with another island only when brother party is in government it us a sign of a dying Caricom.
Why was Big Belly Ralphie in the front seat but the prime minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines absent?
Was an invitation extended to the newly elected St Vincent and the Grenadines prime minister?
No other opposition leader but Ralphie who is the losing head of the St Vincent and the Grenadines labour party was present.
Is Caricom an all boys club????
Caribbean heads are the chief architects of partisan politics. At the recent swearing ceremony of St. Lucia Prime Minister Philip Pierre, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley was present, so to was Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Honourable Gaston Browne, and also present was Roosevelt Skerritt of Dominica, Dickon Mitchell of Grenada & the Grenadines. Even the PM of St. Kitts and Nevis Dr Terrence Drew was present. The indomitable Ralph Gonsalves was also there. None of the above named Ministers or leaders was present when the new Prime Minister Dr. Hon Godwin Friday was sworn in as the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines which didn’t send a right signal. Our regional leaders continues to show partisanship and favoritism with many continually dabbling in each others local politics. Just an observation!
