Darwin Telemaque, Manager of the Antigua Barbuda Port Authority, emphasized at a Caribbean Development Bank seminar in Ottawa that regional cooperation is crucial for addressing port challenges.
He stressed that individual efforts are insufficient due to shared risks and called for a unified strategy to improve logistics and trade efficiency.
Telemaque, also Chairman of the Port Management Association of the Caribbean, highlighted the burden on ports from trade policies, advocating for a clear distinction between trade policy and port operations.
He pointed out the limited inter-regional trade and argued that port inefficiencies, not just fewer ships, contribute to high costs and deter more ships from docking.

Just look at that pompous be otch. The unfortunate people who work for him know exactly how he is at the office. He thinks that is his kingdom and they are his subjects. Those who know him know exactly what he is.
One of the most inefficient managers on the island. He is a challenge to the Port itself.
