Rastafarian Elder ‘King Saggi-Fu’ Remembered by Education Minister Daryll Matthew

Antigua and Barbuda is mourning the loss of Rastafarian elder Glasford “King Sagyefo” Mack— affectionately known as King Saggi-Fu or Brother Mack — whose passing has touched many across the community.

Education Minister Daryll S. Matthew paid tribute in a heartfelt message, recalling decades of friendship and the deep impact Osagifu had on his life.
“I struggle to find the right words to describe the lifelong friendship we’ve shared, and the sadness I’m feeling,” Matthew wrote. “I remember playing with your children when I was a little boy. I remember you walking me around your ‘farm’. I remember eating and drinking with you. You were driven, motivated, fearless and loyal.”

Matthew described the late elder as a man of insight and conviction. “You always had something insightful and sometimes controversial to discuss. I will miss you, Sir. King Saggi-Fu. Osagifu. Brother Mack. Rest well. It is well deserved. JAH RASTAFARI!”

The respected elder was known within the Rastafarian community for his steadfast principles, wisdom, and devotion to the movement’s spiritual and cultural roots. Tributes continue to pour in from those who knew him as a teacher, friend, and guide whose influence extended across generations.
