In light of the aborted 2025 budget debate due to MPs bickering over speaking order, should the salaries of elected representatives be withheld when they fail to fulfill their parliamentary duties?

There’s no proper debate, and there cannot be any proper debate when they keep walking away, or they are refusing to debate!     Last year it was a UPP Budget Boycott. They claimed they didn’t have enough time to digest the budget statement, as if we don’t all know its their support teams that do all the work.

    This year they got extra time to digest the budget statement so they claim they need a particular speaking order, trying to dictate for Govt MPs and Anthony Smith, else dem nar talk!

    Plus they claimed the Budget Statement and Estimates are not the Budget they need to debate, but what the other side’s members say individually. Can y’all imagine that? This is their Pringle-brilliant reason for robbing people of hearing them?

    A fraid dem fraid. It is a tall order to push the narrative that Antigua is a failed state and all the other crap they say day to day. Yet we could alt least praise the effort. They punked out, scudded class and even claimed they left their notes at home!

    Bunch of losers and everyone sees this!

    How about, a #Lie_Detector TEST is MANDATED for ALL PARLIAMENTARIANS and CABINET HEADS annually? So, then, when they come up short on their promises which they keep bamboozling the People with and don’t deliver, they will be #found_wanting. Then they can be questioned further with additional evidence’s, as they come to light to prove their guilt, culpability or innocence.

  15. Should the Ministers of Government be recalled when ever they failed to deliver on projects and programmes which they had promised to the Nation, and they didn’t fulfilled or completed them for many years, should they be recalled from sitting in Cabinet and be made backbenchers ??
    I am sure that these same individuals whom are suggesting or advocating that the Hon. Algernon Watts and Hon. Kelvin Simon, should not to be paid due to the fact, that they did not Debate that 2025 Budget.
    But how ironic can it gets, the Prime Minister Gaston Browne admonished his Ministers also, not to Debate that said Budget, what about them ? and when you have an representative, representing you for over two terms, and he was never seen fit to be made a member of the Cabinet by the Leader, in spite of the fact that he is represents over 18% of the total electorate, should he be recall as their representative ?
    I will be leaving these questions for these agitated illogical Labourites to answer, to the same public whom they are now appealing to..

I need a point of clarification. in a debate should not the side that is presenting the case ( as in pro the subject) present their case then those who opposed be given the chance to give their rebuttals afterwards.. In my opinion the Government Ministers should have presented their Ministerial Budgets then the Opposition MP’s present their rebuttals. Can someone shef some light on this matter..

I back this salary been withheld from politicians o both side of the isle for non performance, but my bad, because the ALP politicians are only merchant politicians, meaning they engage in business for their enrichment only, selling Barbuda lands and passport or what ever buffer zone and beach access blocking they will take money for, but oops! That mean no time to do anything for the citizens but tax them to make up for what they looted.
