Hire real workmen who want to work and not men for political reasons, who hang out with sunshine girls to the west of Public Works, and on Bishopgate Street west of, and by the Spanish Bar.
Bring in engineers with the knowledge and experience in road building. After 50 years of failures, it is patently obvious that no one at Public Works has a clue what they are doing. The same applies to APUA Water division.
Get rid of COW Williams and get another more efficient company
I fully endorse ALL of the above!
@ concerned citizen who want work…
@ Otto
@ Visionary
Every morning.. Religiously .. All workers are lined up by the Lion’s Den fence, just outside of the PWD driveway, smoking Weed..and some have their Likkle Man rum. So you know that their foremen ad supervisors can see the activity…
What kind of proper work you can get from these guys…
It is a shame the waste at PWD, they spent thousands of dollars to make a road driveable between Cedar Grove and Coolidge but didn’t complete it, now it is deteriorating back to nothing and rubbish is everywhere. Where is the minister as this road makes a difference for traffic congestion. Plus this road is in her back yard!
Do we still have a public works minister?
Antigua has lots of smart, talented young people. A lot of them are encouraged to pursue careers in medicine and law. If they don’t make it in those demanding subject areas they fade away into oblivion. But, they are still smart and talented. They can be trained to do other important technical things like managing the water system, and infrastructure planning and development. If a whole ton of workers are trained in these areas and added to those already on the ground perhaps the massively increased manpower would allow us to keep those systems properly functioning and maintained at all times. Also, we should encourage our most talented young people to consider other areas of work besides medicine and law. Those fields are over filled in this country anyway. Some very difficult problems in other areas need highly talented persons to help solve them. Everything is breaking down around us and we barely have water, but we still insist on looking down on students who choose to go into other areas as their first choice. We need a mix of talent in every sector.
Close that minister and sell all his assets, take that money and start to reinvested in the country..Create just a department to address this matters with skilled engineers and budgeting.. Use private competition to give project to the best…
Public Work Minister have a huge payroll for do crap…Millions in assets that workers don’t take care of.. You can give to those workers a brand new car and in one single year,,,the mash it up. Then they have the audacity to blame >>>Ohh this is a Factory defect, the truck no good…Come on. They lack of skills. They have lot of machinery and resources and still don’t know how to do a job right..
