The public is being warned to stay alert amid reports of individuals falsely claiming to be census workers.

Statchel Edwards, Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, confirmed that no census staff have been deployed ahead of the 2025 Housing and Population Census, which begins next month.

“There’s no one that’s actually doing census taking at this point in time,” he said, urging residents to be cautious of anyone claiming otherwise.

Edwards assured that once data collection begins, the public will be clearly informed. Official census workers will wear vests marked “Census 2025”, carry official IDs, and follow clearly communicated procedures.

Census Day is scheduled for 25 June.

The Bureau plans further public education campaigns to ensure a smooth process and urges residents to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
