Public Support Instrumental in Solving Crimes, Says Police Commissioner Rodney
Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney has credited public cooperation as a key factor in solving numerous crimes this year. Speaking on State Media, he praised the community for their vital assistance, noting that many of the cases cracked by law enforcement were made possible through tips and information from citizens.
Rodney expressed his gratitude for the public’s engagement, emphasizing the significant role of collaboration in enhancing public safety.
Reflecting on the challenges of the past year, the Commissioner described 2024 as one of the busiest years for law enforcement, marked by periods of heightened criminal activity.
“It was a busy year for the police. In the middle of the year, we experienced an upsurge in robberies targeting business establishments. The general public was right there with us. For a number of high-level cases we investigated, the information came directly from the public,” Rodney said.
He added that some of the illegal firearms removed from the streets were also recovered thanks to public assistance.
Rodney’s remarks underscore the importance of community-police collaboration and reaffirm the force’s commitment to creating a safer environment for all residents.

Congrats Mr Commissioner for admitting that we the general public are playing a very important roll in crime solving. The other ranks and files of police force must bear that in mind when they are engaging with us and stop treating every body as criminals. Antiguans are basically good people treat us with some respect
Antigua is my adopted country. I fell in love with it as a young lady and promised myself that if I ever migrated it would be there.
We slept with our windows opened and only closed them for hurricanes. I am happy to know that the public are trusting and confiding in Police Force.
