Public Servants to Receive Early Pay, Back Pay, and Salary Increase

Public servants can look forward to a financial boost this Christmas as the Cabinet has confirmed that salaries will be paid early in December, along with back pay and an additional salary installment.

Director-General of Communications Maurice Merchant said Cabinet “concretized” the Prime Minister’s earlier announcement to ensure that funds are available to cover the payments. The decision, he noted, was intended to allow workers to meet their holiday expenses comfortably.

In addition to the December payouts, Merchant said the Cabinet also approved a second salary as part of the back-pay package, and a general salary increase is expected early in the new year following the 2026 national budget presentation.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne had previously hinted that the adjustment would reward public officers for their contribution to national development and help offset increases in living costs.

The announcement capped the final Cabinet meeting before Independence celebrations, with Merchant noting that “November and December will be months of celebration” as the economy continues to perform strongly toward the close of 2025 .

  1. The campaign is on.
Gaston is taking advantage of the Stockholm Syndrome which Antiguans suffer from.
He us ready to put sugar in gheor mouth and while the taste is still there to call elections and fool them.
Then he will put fire in there backside.
The ga e has already been played.
It is similar to what was promised when they wanted to win the CCJ referendum.
Some years ago we were produced a pay increase.
It is still in the pipeline.
We have had many a promise from Gaston.
The day after he changes his tune.
The people need to be alert.
Rather than taking Gaston’s gift for Christmas they should give him a gift on Bale half of antigua.
They should kick out his entire cabinet and party.

  3. Gaston Browne thinks all Antiguans are suckers. Sweeten us up with plenty of money at the end of the year and after we vote him back in power is the boot in our collective backsides.
Next year is election, he will again try to catch the Opposition off guard, he’s a trickster

This man thinks once Antiguans hear talk of money like rain commonsense goes out the window. We deserve the money, so we’ll gladly take then send him to take a rest and worship his riches

  4. “Public servants can look forward to a financial boost this Christmas as the Cabinet has confirmed that salaries will be paid early in December, along with back pay and an additional salary installment.”
The above caption seems very enticing to the readers eyes, but let’s dissect the information analytically
    1. Salaries will be paid early in December- it has always been paid early.
    2. Salaries will be paid early in December, along with back pay- what amount are we to expect
    3. Salaries will be paid early in December, along with back pay and an additional salary installment- this statement is simply stating we should be receiving three payouts
Let’s see what happens come December

  5. When Cabinet gave it’s ministers their 14% increase they got their retroactive pay in full. Why do public sector workers have to get ours in piece meal? Don’t we know the value of money? Pay us all that is due to us and not another one month salary.

  6. I bet the $15mil could have come in handy right now for these same pensioners, but instead we have Gatson Browne traveling to Dominica to pose with criminals like Vybes Kartel, instead of securing the peoples money instead of ” procuring” it.
