Public servants to receive 5% interim pay increase at end of March

Public servants in Antigua and Barbuda will receive a 5 percent interim salary increase at the end of March 2026, Cabinet has confirmed.

The government said the measure is intended to provide short-term financial relief as negotiations continue on a broader compensation package.

Officials stressed the increase is not final, noting that talks remain ongoing with the expectation of a more comprehensive agreement soon.

Cabinet said the move is part of efforts to cushion citizens from global economic pressures, particularly those affecting small island states, and signaled it remains prepared to introduce further measures if needed.

  1. This is how you stay in power…all aspiring politicians and political leaders better take note. Gassy Dread intentions are clear, before it was 50 years V.C at the wheel now it will be 50 years Gassy at the wheel. lol

  2. ABLP Snap General Election incoming #1

Everything in the ABLP garden seems rosey at present, and just like the run-up to the last General Election when people were wondering whether or not it was going to take place, however all the signs are being put in place, just like this one with salary increases.

ABLP supporters keep holding Prime Minister Browne to account. Don’t let up now…

  3. Something definitely is not right.
Are unions still operational and relevant in this land?
I have always thought that unions were the bargaining agents which propose meaningful, realistic salary increases.
I certainly have missed the boat when government unilaterally decides and gives whatever increase they want to to the hard working civil servants.
It happened before when the government decided on its own to give a fivne percent increase.
It said that the five percent was temporary.
In no real world is four years temporary when dealing with poor civil servants daily bread.
Negotiations are for a particular period.
What period os that interim five percent a part of?
In fact what year’s salary is civil servants working on?
My last information search revealed that the government and union have not completed and settled negotiations for the period 2019 to 2021.
If that’s the case when will 2024 to 2026 negotiations begin?
Are thee unions just too happy to relinquish their roles to the politicians?
Something is terribly too too wrong in Antigua.
Are the unionists too afraid of their government?
When will Antiguans stop loving politicians than they love themselves????
We need an awakening in Antigua

  4. Interim as in an in-the-mean-time arrangement until after the snap election in June, then you’ll be promised a permanent reprieve while the new taxes and fees are adjusted to take it back plus more from your purse.
